Every Thursday - "Downtown Thursdays"!!! Car show from 5 to 8 in the big city parking lot on Second Street across from the city park. All participating downtown merchants will stay open until at least 8pm - many will host special events and raffles. Come into Gooseberry Fool between 5 and 8pm, mention "Downtown Thursdays" free drawing, and be entered to win a dinner for two (valued at approximately $50). Enter as often as you wish, the winner is drawn the last Thursday of the month.
Every Saturday (through October 25) - Farmer's Market every Saturday from 8am to Noon (on First Street @ Oak)
June 27 - Wine and Tapas with Viano Vineyards - Taste of 3 wines; each taste comes with a small plate of gourmet food (tapas). 7pm - only $20 per person. Reservations not required but are certainly recommended! 240-6830
July 28 - Gooseberry Fool owner, Kerri Marvel, to be a tasting judge at the Farmer's Market Recipe Contest. Join us Saturday morning from 10 to Noon for this event. Food Entries must use locally-grown produce as its main ingredient. Money prizes to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

We are a full-service restaurant; serving lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 to 4:30, and dinner from 4:30 until closing. The menus have something for everyone on them, including a kid's menu. We are open on Saturday mornings for Champagne Breakfast from 8:30 to 12:30. Please see our full menus on the Restaurant and Prepared Foods page; check back every once in awhile; they change seasonally.
The food style can best be described as California Cuisine with a 'Comfort Foods' twist. We make everything on the premises from real ingredients. We use as much local, organic or natural ingredients as we can.
We still offer foods in our prepared-foods cases. Get it to go, or eat in our dining room. A list of the kinds of foods typically offered from our Prepared Foods Case is shown on our Prepared Foods page. Prepared foods are sold ala carte, and by weight, so you can get as much or as little as you like. Food items in the case change every few days. That keeps the prepared foods menu varied and exciting! Call ahead and order if there is something you absolutely must have for a specific time!
We carry many local products in our store - lots of local wines, local-area books, and local olive oils. We're always on the hunt for more items. Give us a call if you know of a new item or have one you want us to know about!
We have some wonderful items on our Gourmet Grocery racks and shelves. Perfect for gifts by themselves or they can used to make a gift basket. Examples of some of these items are oils, vinegars, jams and jellies, cookbooks, kitchen gadgets, pastas, sauces, condiments, chocolates, and coffees and teas. We also carry seasonal items for various holidays.
We serve wine and beer by the glass, and wine by the bottle. Also, we are a package-store, so you could stop by to pick up dinner and a bottle of wine (or six-pack of beer) and take it all home! No more extra stops at the Supermarket!
